Sad day

Well it seems the day has come for Bonnie the whippet to retire. She still loves rabbiting but the body is telling her she is getting old. Today I was running the dogs and she was all about it but lost the energy fast and just wandered behind me after 20 minutes.

She has put some great pups on the ground and her line won’t die, she’s also killed a LOT of rabbits. She’s been to the vet more than once, her back leg is held together by fishing line and it has held together very well. Kudo’s to the Canadian vet in Alexandra, absolutely my go to vet!

I know Bonnie is going to drive me nuts for being left at home and that’s fine. She has well and truly earned the good life! Now the cat and I will have to have a chat about the dog in her patch…

Sorry, had to add a photo😁. If you go through the many photo’s here you will see her in action.

PS: She’s still the best hole indicator here.

I met one of your pups in Alexandra this morning, a beautiful golden Border Collie cross Whippet. The owner was singing his praises and I could see he was a fine dog to have as a pet. We go out rabbiting on the hills around Alex and on the Tailings. Our current dog used to catch hares there but he is eleven now and slowing down. He must have killed a thousand rabbits in his day, starting at just 5 months old. I might be after buying a pup from you in a few years. I am enjoying your blog! Cheers
